Nigeria: police have arrested Seven suspected supporters of IPOB at Aba

The police in Aba, Abia State reportedly detained no fewer than seven suspected leaders of the indigenous people of Biafra, IPOB. The pro-Biafra activists, numbering more than 100, apparently took to Aba streets in protest at what they identified as the country 's killing of Christians and Biafrans.

They were equipped with Biafran flags and numerous insignia. The protesters were assembled to take off from the Ala Oji Flyover on the Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway before abolishing at the SAMEK junction near the Ariaria International Market.

Sources within the SAMEK area said that certain IPOBs sustained injuries by the security agencies in the ensuing sporadic gunshots to evacuate the protesters. Contacted, Police Abia State Commissioner, Mrs. Janet Agbede confirmed the protesters' arrest, but could not confirm the number of suspects that were involved. In her sayings, "I understand some IPOB members have been detained but I don't know the actual number. They'll bring them to Umuahia (Police Headquarters) tomorrow. I'll have the exact number of those apprehended by tomorrow."
