Everton footballer, brother-in-law of Gylfi Sigurdsson, 11, dies after he accidentally shot himself with a shotgun

 


After fatally shooting himself, Everton footballer Gylfi Sigurdsson 's young brother-in - law tragically died.



Maximilian Helgi Ivarsson, an 11-year-old man, killed himself while playing with a shotgun that he had taken from a locked cupboard. He died five days before Sigurdsson played off against Tottenham in Everton's season opener on September 8.

Sigurdsson has yet to talk publicly about his wife's half-brother Ivarsson, 31-year-old Alexandra Ívarsdóttir 's death.


In the Icelandic Morgunblaðið newspaper, the Everton midfielder, his wife and other members of their family paid tribute to the late Ivarsson.


"To write these words breaks our hearts," read the family tribute. "The first word that comes to our minds is appreciation.


"Gratitude for being able to be with you and appreciate your wonderful presence during this brief time you were here."
