Police arrest man for killing, dumping body of his wife in a well



One Abdulrahman Abdulkarim, 40, was arrested by police in Katsina State on Thursday for allegedly murdering his junior wife and dumping the corpse into an abandoned well. The state-spokesperson for police, SP Gambo Isah, described the death in a statement made available to Katsina newsmen. "About 02:00 hours on June 14, a distress call was received that one Abdulrahaman Abdulkarim, 40, from Madabu village, Dabawa in Dutsinma State Local Government Area, killed his junior wife, one Wasila Sada, 19, and dumped her dead body into a well," Isah said.
As a result, he said the DPO, Dutsinma division, led a team of detectives to the scene, and was able to retrieve the body.

"They took the body to the general hospital in Dutsinma, where she was reported dead after a post mortem examination by the attending physician," he told. Isah noted the suspect was arrested and assisted police in their investigation. Similarly, a housewife, Murja Ibrahim, 20, was arrested by police for allegedly poisoning her step-son in the state's Dandume Local Government Area.

Isah said that at around 4 p.m. on June 19, one of Jidadi's Ibrahim Sani, Dandume Local Government Area of the State, confirmed to the Dandume Police Division that his second wife, 20-year-old Murja Ibrahim, poisoned his eight-year - old son Habibu Ibrahim. He revealed a team of detectives went to the scene, taking the body to General Hospital, Funtua, where the attending physician confirmed him dead. The suspect was also arrested according to him and is assisting police in their inquiry.
